Oracle Database Administrator

Idea Integration is currently searching for an Oracle DBA for our client in Greensboro, NC. This is a 6 month contract position with a possible option to hire. In this role you will assist with Oracle/SQL performance tuning, estimating and sizing temp space, creating and testing users and roles and providing direction to developers in best practices for specific database actions (creating indexes, etc.).



Responsibilities:



• Proactively work with STATSPACK to determine and implement changes to underperforming code, and Oracle parameters that help keep the Warehouse running

• Recommend and implement performance enhancements in the database like indexing, database physical characteristics like PCTFREE, PCTUSED coming more from the application requirements

• Assist/recommend use of new DB features (ex. ROLLUP, CUBE, Star query…)

• Assist/recommend tuning of code/database (ex. direct path loads, bulk array processing…)

• Assist with migration to 10G/AIX and OWB

• Assist with debugging application errors/problems

• Perform table/index design reviews (ex. partitioning, space management, bitmaps…)

• Monitor database memory/disk/cpu usage and review with System DBAs for possible parameter changes/tuning

• Design/build common packages/procedures/functions useful to multiple projects



Skills needed:



• Must have Data Warehousing experience. OLAP experience desired, not necessary

• Expertise in Apps Troubleshooting, Cloning, Maintenance, Migration, Upgrade, Tuning, System Administration and Form Server

• Ability to analyze information to make recommendations on monitoring and performance

• Must have ORACLE 10G, AIX environment and Shell Scripting experience
