SQL Server Database Analyst



Location: Charlottesville, VA



Our client is seeking a Database Analyst skilled in SQL Server who will be responsible for upgrades and general maintenance of databases located remotely and at client sites. The DBA will support the planning, deployment, performance management, support, and use of SQL Server instances for all company wide endeavors.

Responsibilities include:



- Maintain SQL-Server instances, including initial configuration, deployment planning, and operational tuning as required by the supported applications

- Perform database upgrades on the Microsoft SQL-Server instances located remotely at client-sites

- Assist database developers and database architects with assembling deployment packages of the database

- Assist database developers and database architects with assembling deployment packages of the database

- Participate in the development and implementation of the server databases as needed

- Maintenance of documentation for supported systems

- Ability to work flexible hours as upgrades often are scheduled to occur during non-business hours.

- Ability to travel as required, often with short notice.



Expectations:



Typical work week: 40 hours. Frequent hours beyond the expectation may be required. Infrequent overnight business travel should be expected. Infrequent travel is a trip of one of more days one or twice a quarter.



Experience and Skills:



- Desktop productivity tools experience (min 5 years).

- SQL-Server DBA expertise (3-5 years); Microsoft Certification strongly preferred.

- Microsoft Access and SQL-Server report development.

- Demonstrated technical documentation skills.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Demonstrated experience with testing procedures and methodologies to certify programs for promotion into production environments.



Three years experience supporting an operational environment is required.
