I worked at Kabuto for a year and I don't appreciate the way the customers are lied to. Health inspector came about a month or longer ago and her words exactly were "Its so bad I don't want to finish the inspection. " Would be grade : 75. Took threee visits to get a 96. Reasons why? Shrimp was bad, and food storage was and still is unorganized, and NOT properly cleaned. Specials are misleading, and for the poor food quality they have, menu way over priced. Sushi side is great, and servers give phenomenal service.
I eat sushie at least once a week and you have the best sushie chef in town. Always friendly and you can tell he takes great pride in his dishes. Every one I take there can't wait to go back. I have eaten sushie from other places and have not found anything even close to the quality at Kabuto. I work for a local car dealership and always take my factory reps there, they all insist on Kabuto. Thanks to Ren and all the staff that make it so enjoyable.
I also will not return to Kabuto. The last time we were there, my grown son who is a body builder and eats lots of food ( that is why we choose to eat there) was the last person to be served at our table. When the cook got to his plate there was only 1/4 the amount of food that was served to the 1st 4 people. We were the last 4 and our servings got smaller as the cook went. We all 4 left there still hungry and upset.
I would highly reccomend not going to Kabuto Steakhouse.
When I'm in the mood for Japanese food, Kabuto is not my first choice in Greensboro, NC. Their lack of guest personal attention is the main reason. Once again, I'm proven correct.
I had a few clients staying in a nearby hotel from Kabuto. They asked me to order some food for them to go pick up from Kabuto. On their website I noticed their menu has no prices beside it. So, I had to call to ask a few questions. I'm sure the host hates taking these kind of calls. Well, at least this one did.
After going through hoops, I called back to place my order. Their male host then tells me I had to order food to-go at their place of business. They don't take food to-go over the phone. I mentioned I would give them my credit card number, and pay for it up front. He said no. I asked for a manager. Minutes later a female, same attitude, tells me the exact same thing. She offered for me to come in, order, and wait for my food in their lounge. I said if I had that kind of time I mine as well eat there. She replied with "you sure can". Are their bar sales that bad? Come on, really?
Think of it this way, they lost well-over a two hundred dollar order. It's good to know the Kabuto in Greensboro is doing that good of business on a Sunday evening that they can turn people away.
I mentioned this to a friend that's the GM of a steak house. He laughed. He tells me that Kabuto is not corporate anymore. It's run by people just like me and you. Maybe the two females that run the Kabuto in Greensboro should take a class on how to not only create returning guests, but guests period.
Kabuto Japanese Steakhouse is awesome. There is always more food than I can eat in one sitting. I love the way the owner makes us feel welcomed. I recommend this restaurant to all my friends and family.
I am originally from Greensboro, North Carolina, and I wanted to pleasantly surprise my wife and son. Well, we made reservations, and yeah, that went fine. Well, it all started when we arrived there. Our waitress was not at all attentitive to our needs, and did not come around for refills at all. Then when she did come around to take our orders, I of course am allergic to onions, yet they could always cook my order in front of me without the onions, and have done so before. Well, it came time to see the "show", what there was of it, and we had a "newbie" if you will. He dropped items, and could not complete the egg trick properly at all. Then, when it came time to serve my wife's food, the chef dropped a great deal of food into my wifes beverage. Which, when the waitress does not come around to refill, means she had nothing to drink. Then when the chef was done, he left the grill a mess, which is not to be done either. This experience was suppose to be a good one. My wife and I were 400 miles from home, as we now presently live in Ohio, and were down for the weekend. All I can say is that the dinner was not worth fifty dollars at all. I could have gone to McDonald's and received friendlier service and laughed harder than what I did there at Kabuto's. Stay away unless you just like to have your money taken?
sad to say..but we made a reservation for sunday lunch...a party of 12..they split us up...which we could handle...our waitress was not very attentive at all..we had a coupon for half price sushi..which was terrible..when we got ready to pay..they said the coupon was not for what we ordered..we had asked the chef about it and he shook his head..the waitress did not come back until we were finished eating..did not really know whether or not we were charged correctly..not a good experience and gratuities was added even though we had two different waitresses. we were disappointed that we did not get a salad wth the meal..but the price did not reflect that..also we had one couple share and they did not get much to eat at all after paying a charge for sharing..will not go back there again..other japanese resturants in Greensboro are much better..and oh..the show...there was none...no fun..too much money....i agree with the others dont go there unless you want your money taken....
We made reservations 2 days ahead of time. When we got there they said we didn't have a reservation. We had to wait 30 min. to get a table. It would have been longer if we had not pursued the issue. It looked as though quite a few people had messed up reservations. The food was okay. They gave us fried bananas for desert. The chief was good, he joked around a lot. When the chief left they came by with to go boxes, bags and cups for sauces, while we were all still eating. I thought it was a little rude, like they were rushing us.The parking lot is small, your better off parking at one of the hotels next door.
Dis dat type of restrant were you jus wanna let yo baws hang while you eat skrimp wit dat hot sawce
Kabuto is a typical, pricey Japanese steakhouse where they cook in front of you. We had a nice chef who joked with us and did some tricks, and the food is very good. It's expensive, but so are all the other Japanese steakhouses I've been to.
The only thing I didn't like was that they seemed like they were trying to rush us out of there. Immediately after we had all our food, the waiter brought over doggie bags and our bill.
I'd recommend this place for a dinner for a special occasion, but not for an every-week visit.
I have eaten at this restaurant several times when I would come home from Georgia. The food was always awesome more than I could eat. The owner would come out and walk around making us feel very welcomed. I have referred the restaurant to many friends that was headed to NC. I absolutely love this restaurant!!!
